(PRWEB) August 20, 2012

The Oklahoma bankruptcy lawyers at the law firm of Atkins & Markoff hereby alerts the public of a report that was recently formulated and released by a company known as CardRatings.com, a service that provides information regarding different credit cards and news regarding these credit cards and credit ratings, ranking Oklahoma as the 23rd best state in the United States in terms of overall personal credit conditions.

Specifically, there were five different criteria used to arrive at these rankings, and Oklahoma finished in 23rd place on this list based on five criteria that included unemployment rates, personal bankruptcy rates, average credit scores, credit card delinquency rates and home foreclosure rates. Oklahoma was consistently in the middle of the pack with regards to each of these criteria according to the rankings that were published.

The 10 worst states in order included Nevada, Georgia, Florida, Arizona, California, Alabama, Mississippi, Indiana, Illinois and Tennessee. The 10 best states in order were North Dakota, Vermont, South Dakota, Montana, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Hawaii, Minnesota and Alaska. Oklahoma finished just ahead of Maryland and New Jersey and just behind Utah.

These rankings are released every year, and they are done to provide people with insight as to the overall financial conditions in each state. For instance, North Dakota has a current unemployment rate of only 3.0 percent according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, which ranks as the best unemployment rate in the country. Conversely, Nevada at least in part earned its top ranking on the worst list because it leads the United States in unemployment rate.

While Oklahoma finished in the middle of the pack and did not distinguish itself in either a positive or a negative manner with regards to any of these criteria, the fact of the matter is that during the calendar year of 2011, more than 13,000 Oklahoma bankruptcy cases were filed inside of the jurisdiction according to statistics kept by the federal government.
